It's disgusting how Canon treats us as the customer, I've read umpteen articles on people having the same problem and Canon just laughs it off.
HP also does the same, they all try to force us to rather buy new printers in desparation. They program the printers to waste ink, they program the print heads to pack up every so often, I have a large format hp printer HP Designjet T520 ( A0 ) size plans, every year exactly january I have to replace the printhead at
R 5500, 00, and now they're going to stop making printheads for this printer. New printer R 55 000, 00

Your thumbnail is more informative, than Epson's documentation. I literally restarted the service in your thumbnail, and everything started working.

Mine was already set to automatic so the start button was grayed out. So I chose manual to clear it and then selected automatic again. This time I was able to select the start button, yet I see no changes at all. There has to be another way. My printer copies from the glass with no problem. Doesn't the scanner use the same eye, except one makes a virtual copy and the other a paper copy? I don't get how one can work and not the other.

As some others have stated, mine was already selected as "Automatic" and the computer would not let me start or stop the program. I reset my computer, then it allowed me to stop the program, select "Automatic, " select start, then ok. That did it for me.

You are my Hero, I've been battling toget my CANON i-sensys MF237w printer /scanner to work for literally weeks, everytime I switch off my computer and start again my scanner wo'nt work, I went into SERVICES etc as you said, however my setting was on AUTOMATIC allready and start was greyed out, so I just pressed APPLY down the bottom and OK and it works, if it does it again I won't have to battle for 4 hours again. Thanks. My printer works perfectly but it's my scanner that always give me trouble, well it works now, don't know for how long.
