I had the opposite experience from you Angie. I loved both formulations. The serum is definitely not a matte finish, but more a natural finish. The cover foundation is dewy. Both give the skin an airbrush finish. I do however, finish both with setting powder. I've found with both, that less product is more. A little goes a long way and applying it with fingers and then smoothing out with a makeup brush does the trick. They were definitely worth the wait in my opinion, especially given the price point. I use Chanel, Armani and other high end foundations and in my opinion, this gives them a run for the money.

40 yrs old here, bought both of these and I love them. Like all foundation, application matters most. Very light layers built up for coverage was best for these. Set lightly and blended with fingers. Both foundations looked like my skin even in my 10x mirror. I'd say to everyone to experiment with application and definitely don't pile on a thick layer.

Looks like more and more of us are receiving our orders. I have 58 year old dry skin with no texture and no visible pores. I ordered 3 colors in the full-coverage formula and i agree that the colors are wonky. I've used a mixture of the colors with and without primer, and even with The Ordinary's High Spreadability Fluid Primer, and all unsuccessfully. That primer doesn't play well with my sunscreen, but is nice on it's own. I refused to give up and found crazy success with applying the foundation on top of another foundation. It was then super full coverage, but I don't want to wear 2 layers everyday. I just figured this new concept and formula would be another home run for The Ordinary, but it's a lot of work. Lastly, in every method I tried, the foundation just sat on top of my skin, and wore off easily - same results as you, Angie, with the phone test and even touching my face.

As always, THANK YOU for your fantastic videos!

Your reviews are so deep and detailed. You are so professional when it comes to test foundations and you are not afraid to tell the truth.

Funny how different we all are. I am 61 and this foundation works as good as the Chanel Lumiere on me!!

Hi Angie, I'm 40yrs old and I've recently tried these foundations and I wasn't impressed 😵 I was really looking forward to trying them as I've only heard good things about them. I found they wouldn't stick to my face, they went on ok but they just seemed to sit on top of my skin and make my pores stand out a mile. the serum one became very patchy after a few hours while the coverage one just came off and make my skin look very tired. I really wanted to love them but unfortunately not for me. out of the two, the coverage strangely, is the better one. Really great review and good to know I'm not alone xx

I am a bit shocked you didn't like the serum foundation. I'm 46, on 05% retin a (but it has not dried me up.) I'm still as oily as OPEC and live in TX; yesterday it was 103° and humid. I am loving this serum foundation! I do have to set it, and with a puff. This time of year i need powerful powders. Usually just wear powder foundations because its soooo hot.

Its so interesting how different foundations can look or feel for different ppl. You said at the end if you're oily, you couldn't imagine this working. I just wanted to pop on and say, I'm oily and the foundation serum works for me.

Thank you for your honesty. We all appreciate it!!

Your make up in this video is so pretty Angie. It has a gorgeous soft focus to it. I so appreciate these types of videos. As you know, we woman of a certain age are always looking for a good foundation. Your yard is gorgeous. Everything is so lush and green. Sorry this foundation Sunday wasn't a success. I guess the search continues. So good seeing you.

I bought the serum foundation and I love it. It applies best with a sponge and I did use primer, setting powder and setting spray. Also I found that you do have to shake the heck out of it before using. Just goes to show that not all products work for all people. Thank you for your reviews for us mature ladies.

I bought the serum foundation. I got a couple colors, and the same thing..both were so yellow. I am a huge fan of the ordinary but these were an epic fail for me too. I only used it once and I was going to try again using a primer. I am so glad you put these to the Angie test because I have seen other women our age use these and they really liked it. I may play with them on days that I am not going anywhere to see if using different products may help. If not I think I will just trash them. I don't know anyone that these colors would match or I would send them to another you tuber to put to the test. Thanks for your time and sharing with us...hope you are enjoying your daughter and you all have a blessed week..xoxo

Your skin looks more flawless as the years go by. You're stunning! I pray I look 1/2 as good as you do in my upcoming years. I certainly appreciate your reviews as mostly, your honesty. You've helped me tremendously! My 70 year old mother watches you now as well as my 86 yr old grand mother. They love you and do not miss a video. lol. Thank you for all you do, you're just as beautiful inside as you are out💕

Wayne Goss, is such a delight to watch on youtube. I love his tutorials and tips. I find some of the products he pitches as life changing, are let downs. He says they aren't sponsoring him. The Ordinary products I tried didn't do anything for my skin (except break my skin out). I recently purchased Wayne's new eye set, however, and I am now enjoying applying and blending eye shadow to my eye crease as never before.

It's so strange how different everyone's skin reacts to the same thing, isn't it! I'm 48 with dry combo skin and both of these look great and wear really well on me in the shade 1.1N. You're right about the bit of magic that the coverage version has, don't know how it does it but the magic stays with me all day. I don't particularly like the high ad primer, these work better for me with the l'oreal mattifying primer and a setting spray. Love your reviews Angie 💟

Angie, I had a complete opposite experience. I've been testing this for just over a week now and I love the serum... the foundation is nice, but a bit too heavy for me. I would use the foundation when I need more coverage. I have tried it with and without a primer. I do like it best with a primer otherwise it did like to move a little. I found the serum went on so very nice and somewhat settled into my pores and fine lines (nothing too bad). I preferred using a brush over the Beauty Blender. It really went on so easy and blended amazingly.

Those thinking of trying it or had a bad experience with it I would HIGHLY suggest that you start off with a good surface. If you have dull/dry skin this could become patchy. If you have oily skin you will need a good primer for oily skin. I do suggest you conceal and brighten before you put on the serum. Both serum and foundation will need to be set with powder and a nice setting spray.

If you have a good surface to start with, use primer, and set you should see the lasting power. No, it is not as good as my Chanel perfection lumiere velvet, but it is nice enough to wear as an everyday foundation! The tacky feel Angie mentioned I did NOT notice at all. When it comes to looking shiny I did have to powder my nose later in the day. I lightly go over it with my It Bye Bye pores. The SERUM is the winner for me. Loving it!

Angie is correct about the color jumps. You will find a big jump between colors so be careful. Since I've been wearing this everyday for a week I am eager to see if I have any breakouts next week. If a foundation is no good (for me) I will usually have an acne breakout within a week or two after using it. So far its been good (crossing fingers)

PS: I forgot to mention that I've been using my Proactiv+ Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 15 instead of the AG tinted SPF. I wonder if that is playing a role in how well the Serum is working for me.

For me the serum foundation is my go to life foundation. It is really very light and does not cover all the imperfections, but it gives me glow and I look so natural and healthy 😍. Just love it

I just love the way you actually go into different lighting and show how the foundation looks. I am turning 50 in december and I had actually stopped wearing makeup cus I just couldn't get the results I use to get, it was literally like I woke up one day and the way I did it to the products I had come to love no longer worked or looked good it all changed anyways THANK YOU

I had the same experience with the ordinary as Angie. It has a little something, so I keep trying. May work 4 my daughters. ;) I've had more success w/ products Angie has reviewed than any other source. She is usually testing something I am or want to. Thanks Angie!

I'm 38 and both of these foundations mixed together are my new holy grail foundation! It looks so natural, getting your perfect color match is of course a key component. I have my perfect color match and I am so happy with it. I use the their other primer, the liquid. So they are amazing for me 🙌🏻 also I apply with a brush then perfect with a beauty blender. Using fingers is not ideal.
