Ray Park Talks Darth Maul and Filming The Phantom Menace

This is footage I found on my camera's SD card from Star Wars Celebration 2019 Chicago. It's footage I haven't uploaded before (there's a lot) so I'll be uploading them over time, congruent with other daily videos.

This clip is of Ray Park and Ian McDiarmid where Ray talks about playing Darth Maul and filming The Phantom Menace.

I had a VIP Masters badge and a telescopic lens which allowed me to get good seating and a good angle. Sorry for the zoom ins and outs and fuzziness. I wasn't used to the camera.

I met Ray Park at a con and he was just awesome. He made so much time for me and my family despite the huge line of people waiting to see him. He made you feel like he would happily spend all day with you talking about Star Wars because of his enthusiasm and positivity. Maul is badass and so is Ray!

I’ve met Mr Park at a convention in around 2006 and he was wearing his full Darth Maul costume and in full make-up and me and my brother had our picture with him. He is such a nice guy.

Seems like a really chill and down to Earth dude who just loves Star Wars and is hyped to be working on it. He really did make Maul's fighting style so unique, its more agressive and quick to attack which leads to him dropping his guard and that's so Maul's character.

I wonder if the staff wielding Rey, was actually named after Ray Park. But they changed the letter A to E to avoid being painfully obvious. Like how Order 66 is to parallel the devil's number 666, but shortened.

Ray is such an awesome guy! My kids and I waited 6 hrs to meet him and get his autograph this past March. He took lots of time with them and is very personable.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Ray Park absolutely looked like he was listening to Prodigy when he was playing Darth Maul! I remember every time I listened to Firestarter, I felt like I was gonna go out and slay it as well!
