Dear Lindsay, I'VE heard of San Manuel Mine, in Arizona and that is one haunted copper mine. We have an old hidden gold mine here in Schoharie County which is haunted. A gentleman who I guess came up from the big city, N.Y., bought a huge strip of land with a beautiful house on it.
One day he was exploring his land and noticed a piece of track not part of the railroad. He followed it since it was a part of his property and found the remnants of a gold mine. It was abandoned but clearly still had some small veins in it, he decided to come back with a high powered torch/flash light and explore it.
He went in and there was a small rail car filled with rocks, and as he went further in there were chains hanging down from the mine roof. About 150 ft in he could SWEAR he was starting to hear voices, but he carried on AND came to some mining equipment which had been set up long ago.
This was 250 ft. In or so, then there were the voices, only louder now, he stopped but then got brave once more, and continued on to a door. This door and wall led to what looked like a break room, tables, chair, lunch pails still on the tables. In the next room, were old spring mattress bunk beds, rusting away, from the dripping water.
All this time he heard activity, voices, foot steps, and he decided to get out of there AND head home. That night his T.V. started turn on and off, lights started blinking, and he could see his own breath.

I heard you say people have gone into mines to kill themselves and I feel awful for them being in such both a physical dark place and a psychological dark place, reach out and tell someone because you will often find suicide is a permanent solution to a possible temporary problem, don't give up theirs people who can help..
