I knew Hawaii would be in the #1 spot, born and raised here on Oahu. And ya it’s very expensive to live here, I mean even a gallon of milk is about $8. Ya I know everything’s expensive because it needs to be shipped here. But I love my home and honestly wouldn’t wish to live anywhere else. I get to wake up to a view of the koolau mountains every morning☺️🥰🤙🏼

In Georgia, a $150k house is just that. It'll still be worth $150k in 20 years.

I think you should break New York down into two parts. New York City versus most of the rest of the state.

Have you done a video on the least and most expensive property taxes of each state?

Maryland is very expensive. It is a beautiful state with everything mountains, lakes, rivers, bays, ocean. Average housing cost in beautiful Montgomery County just outside of DC is around $700, 000K. The taxes in Maryland are also very high. Homes around $400, 000K are in much less desirable neighborhoods.

Yup...and you pay out the a** for taxes here in NJ. Meanwhile I'm next door neaighbors with Staten Island NY and while their homes are pricey their taxes aren't so bad.

I'm A California resident but lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for 7 years. That said, I'm not surprised they were the top two on your list. However, it depends where you live in Hawaii as to the average cost of a house. Yes, Honolulu and the the island of Oahu are really expensive but The Big Island is a fraction of the cost compared to Oahu. We bought A nice little 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath home on a half acre outside of Hilo in 2003 for $115, 000. Of course it was near Volcanos National Park but they had not had an eruption in my homes area in over 100 years.

Virginia is interesting in the fact that is southwest Virginia you can get a 3bed 2bath house for $100k and in Northern Virginia that same house can cost over $600k

Hawaii #1.

And it shows.

I was priced out in October 20th 2021 after born and raised there from the early 90s. Essentially my whole life until now. We just couldn't pay for a house anymore. I was waiting for Hawaii to show it's cursed colors on this list but the more it got delayed the more likely it was to be in the top 5. And it's the winner in the worst way possible.

Paradise will always be my home in my soul, but not in my salary.

Aloha for the last occasion my homeland.

Well we’re in one of Connecticut’s pricey zip codes where tear downs sell for $800;000!
And the taxes are too damn high!

Re SC, Charleston, Clemson, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, and some of the barrier islands are very nice, also expensive.

Amazing! Homes in Hawaii are about six times more expensive than homes in West Virginia! BTW - I resented how exuberant you were in trashing the state of New Mexico, where I live. It has a LOT of redeeming qualities to it.

You can thank Jackson for making Wyoming way more expensive than average. Plus with the $250k you spend on your house you most likely get a lot of land so it is worth it.

The states I am looking at are numbers 4(in the east half where it's much cheaper and sunnier), 11, and 29, while my mother is looking at number 44. We both currently live in the number 6 state on this list.

Maine, it is primarily retirees and second-home owners, that is why they are kind of low for the region; not much economic activity apart from lobster and tourism.

Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada, there is not much land there that people can actually live on. So much public or government land in those states. Beautiful, and wild and/or surreal, though.

And North Dakota is more valuable than South because of their oil industry(you can see of those working fields from the Amtrak train if you ride on the Empire Builder line), but then again, who knows how long that will last.

Just my two cents!

Oh, and I am not one bit surprised by the two most expensive states either.
