Women in Trade Unions - The Power Within Us

For the first time in the history of the labour movement, the Balkans is facing female leadership at the top of the trade union confederations in Slovenia (ZSSS), Serbia (UGS NEZAVISNOST), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (SSRS). The European Confederation of Trade Unions currently has a female general secretary, and for the first time, a woman is at the head of the European Federation of Journalists. Almost all members of the Regional Trade Union Council "Solidarnost" have sections, networks or committees that represent the special interests of women, and through which the unions advocate for the mitigation of gender inequality at work and within the unions themselves. Precisely for this reason, this documentary serial is trying to capture the momentum as well as empower women trade unionists, encourage them to assume leadership roles and support the recognition of women issues by all workers in collective bargaining agreements. This documentary series seeks to inspire female union leaders to continue fighting for the trade union recognition and labour rights of her fellow workers. Women can be trade union leaders, too. Leadership and communication skills are based on capabilities to promote labour rights and to support voices and needs of female and male colleagues.
