Honestly can not wait to see how the 42T rear cassette works out for you, I made the move over to compact with a 12-30 and I am riding better than ever, cadence is way up so is average speed and my recovery is a lot better. The Compact setup has me tackling stuff I would never have even thought possible a few years back, Will you be swapping over to the new 1x rear mech to make allowance for the whopping cassette??..

DR, I want to get a bicycle but have no where near the amount I need to get a crazy nice one, nor do I have the skill to ride it. Yet! Anyway. Have you had any experience with bikes direct.com or know if they are a reputable source. There's a few entry level bikes around my price range on that site. I feel like a cheap ass for only having a few hundred but it's better then being a couch potato at least.

You make me curious about the 42 cassette harley... are you gonna install a mtb derailleur then because I guess it won't fit on a rad bike one :D I got a 34 cassette and got told "you can't do this" and I did it and thought it's already quite small gearing - huge difference to my 28 one before but I could do even smaller gearing on hills - so you talk about 42, not about 32 right? :D

Yo durian just a heads up if you plan on putting a 42 on your bike you're gonna need an XD freehub for your wheel which might not be compatible with what you have now, otherwise you might wanna get an XTR which is standard. Look into it

they only train for 30-1.5hr. wont be getting very fit.
