Lorne - good stuff bro! I really enjoyed your STEM signs and the explanation for how you developed the concept, I especially like your sign for parasite.

Wanted to share some of what my own thought process looked like when developing ASL concepts to understand and discuss topics regarding bacteria. Maybe some of the signs will be a fit for you, or at least spark ideas for using a bacterial feature such as the peptidoglycan cell wall for an ASL sign.

Biology signs mentioned in this video:

Gram Negative Bacteria, Gram Positive Bacteria
Gram Positive Stain, Gram Negative Stain
Peptidoglycan
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) / Endotoxin
Binary Fission

Bacterial culture - dividing into two every generation -
lag time, growth (log) phase, stationary phase, death phase

Fantastic! One recommendation though, idk if this is sped up, but I would suggest slowing down for clarity. Not all deaf, hard of hearing, or yes, hearing people, can understand signing that fast, especially when it's rather in depth and educational like this blog. I would also consider captions or a transcript for Deafblind people. Again, love your vlogs!

Fascinating discussion! I retired from teaching ASL in June (2016) and haven't signed in a while, but want/need to keep ASL brain activity going. I love biology and so this was really fascinating-- is there a YouTube video you are responding to in this video? I'd love to watch it, if you could give the link to it. To see he other side of the conversation, so to speak, and keep learning.
