Galaxy S20+ (Problems and Best Features after 2 Weeks of Daily Use) - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+

The Samsung Galaxy S20+ is a powerful phone with impressive specs, but what is it like to actually use this phone on a daily basis? In this video, I go into the nuances of this phone and discuss the best and worst aspects of this phone discovered within the first two weeks.

64MP high resolution mode shows that it's not really 3x optical zoom
Can add camera modes to the bottom of the screen
High quality still photos from 8k video - how do they look?

Can remove Samsung daily!
Screen to body ratio is incredible, and I like the slightly less round edges
Lack of hp jack isn't actually that bad
Nice clicky buttons (they are clickier than the S10)
Smoothness - When I borrow someone else's phone, I instinctively think there is something wrong with it. 60Hz looks weird to me now

Dual Bluetooth Listening
Bixby routines can include spotify
Can customize edge lighting styles
Tons of Samsung apps to help like OneHandOperation+, EdgeTouch, etc.

Battery life - in one day with normal use and 120Hz on, my battery drained 45% in 12 hrs of nonstop use (including an hour of YouTube)

CONS
Not actually a telephoto lens (more like 1.2x zoom) - so then why have a main shooter that is not 64MP?? Maybe for better low light?
Camera bump dirt accumulation

Edge rejection is not great. I need a case. When typing, I tend to hit “back” a lot

Screen protector is weak. Easily scratched, and I will most likely be replacing it very soon with a better one
Included earbuds scratch on things and make an irritating sound
Fingerprint magnet
Button arrangement is annoying
3 button press is too similar to 2 button press to open camera
Does not include a headphone adapter (that costs $15 from Samsung)
Phone is very slippery. You really need a case if you don’t want this to slide off things and you don’t want to drop it
Included screen protector is very easy to scratch

I have had mine for well over a month and i love it. My only issue and I consider it very minor is that the fingerprint scanner sometimes doesnt read my finger on the first try. My solutions was to add multiple fingerprints. The second try usually works just fine

Hey Mike, great video, I've had exactly the same issue with the screenshot function, however one trick I've found is that you can sort of roll your thumb and it still works, so get your thumb tip on Volume Down, press it then quickly roll your thumb so that you press the Power Button in the same action with a lower part of your thumb. Works great for me!

I will probably choose Galaxy S20+, because i was seeing in other reviews that Galaxy S20 Ultra is having trouble focusing photos, however in the future Samsung may release an update.

battery is worse in exynos. i struggle to get a day out of it. (and i have the same usage as you, around 5h screen on time per day)

So true about the awkwardness of taking the screen shot. It has been tricky and I sometime end up activating the volume rocker too. Thanks for some pointers on features and covering not so obvious ones as well.

Get Goodlock from Samsung app store it can customize lots of things and has stuff for edge sensitivity too. You can set up multiwindow create your own wallpaper and navigationbar

Daaaamn son. Talk about nit picking. This is by far the best S20 series phone. Clearly beats the Ultra too in size, weight, price, camera issues etc.

Note 10 + beat it in a 20 category camera/video test. Maybe an update will improve the S20. Also prices are dropping fast. Don't pay retail prices. Ive already seen them for under $800 on Ebay.

I dislike how I cannot get any external USB-C Microphones to give excellent audio rather than that muffled, over compressed, excessive noise cancellation bullshit that you hear on playback.

Strangely I tried the original USB-C headphones that came with the Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G.

There is a small built in mic in the volume up and down switch on the actual cable.

Of course it works and certainly offers a better sound quality than these external USB-C Microphones we're all trying to get to work and even when they do work the audio isn't useable.

The original headphones with microphone by Samsung are still being suppressed, you just know it when listening on playback, , there is lots of noise cancellation and all your hearing is your voice without any background noise which certainly isn't right.

It's still not an acceptable vlogging quality but 100 times better than using alternative USB-C Microphones.

I'm still going to find a solution as to why it's difficult for these Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G to use alternative USB-C Microphones from other manufacturers and give excellent audio quality.

As of 31/01/22 I have solved my issue and I am 90% happy that I have useable audio ALTHOUGH it's still being over suppressed thus leaving out natural ambient sounds that all normal microphones would have especially when filming outside.

In short the audio is more useable than before.

I've had an s20 plus for a week now, upgrade from a Note 8. It's definitely a nice device, lots of options, of course I use nova launcher instead of One UI but that's preference. I think you covered most of my issues that I've had, the only thing I'd mention is the finger print reader is still a bit slow and the battery life with exynos chip that mine has is worse than snapdragon.
