The easiest trick is adding a ton of effects. A friend of mine used to get so many damn effects going on that it always sounded good even when his actual playing sucked.
EDIT: Also, at 10:05 that's the exact same harmonic placement. For a good example, check out the solo for Hell Patrol by Judas Priest. No idea if Glenn plays those harmonics deliberately or accidentally but they sound amazing and add a very interesting flavour.
