Rules Former Presidents Have To Follow

When a President is in office, there are constant threats to their safety, so they must have the Secret Service around any time they go out in public. However, these threats don’t always subside when they leave office, so nearly all ex-Presidents continue to have a Secret Service detail for the rest of their lives.

This leads to many other rules that former commanders-in-chief have to follow, like not being able to drive a car or having their mail searched. There are plenty of things ex-Presidents have to do that aren’t related to security as well, so let’s take a look at some rules that former Presidents have to follow.

Do you think it would be worth giving up your privacy for the rest of your life to be president?

Well, there goes my dream of becoming President and then a long distance trucker.

Imagine being elected, finding out the job is so stressful and you hate it, only to finally get out of office and still get updates years later for a job you'll never work again.

Wait, so if EVERYTHING they write needs to be added to their library, is Trumps library going to have a Twitter section?

One of the first facts: You can never drive on public roads again.

The last fact: Actually if you decline protection you can drive.

Can't wait to visit the US just to look at all the tweets in Trump's library.

To sum up: you'll always be surrounded by bodyguards for the rest of your life but you get a library named after you. Noice.

Imagine the secret service being outside your bedroom listening to you trying to give it to the first lady. 😂😂😂

I'd hate to be president, honestly. You'll always have a good chunk of the world, let alone the country, that hates you, the stress destroys your health, you're forced to basically retire, your freedom is limited greatly, etc. The idea may seem cool BEFORE becoming president, but then once you get there, and after it's done, I'm sure it'd suck.

Being a President is definitely a stressful job and lifestyle. Just imagine more than 20 people around you all the time

I like your content but I find the background music is a bit distracting. Maybe a little less volume would help.

Rules former presidents have to follow unless they choose not to follow them.

If I'm not mistaken, Jimmy Carter got rid of his Secret Service Protection awhile back. He figured he was at the age where he just wanted to live his life and if someone was still after him, so be it.

I’m glad for the explanation in the end of the vid that they can opt out of all those “rules “ by refusing Secret Service protection. I was thinking “How can they tell an adult man he can’t drive?” Now we know.🤔

"oh, hell no"

Ngl, interesting video but it seemed like the narrator was trying to speak over the unnecessary, overly loud stock-tunes

I used to work with a surgeon that belonged to Army/Navy golf course in Arlington. It just so happened that Obama was a member there, too.
He’d golfed in a tee time either directly before or after Obama on a number of occasions.
He said it was pretty unnerving having a Secret Service agent staring him down while he was trying to putt or hit a hard shot, but once on Father’s Day the surgeon was golfing immediately after Obama. The surgeon said that he said “Goodmorning Mr President.” to Obama and they struck up a fairly casual conversation. At the end Obama told my friends daughter to let him win that day because it was Father’s Day.
Probably good advice because the surgeons daughter is now on a golf scholarship at a D1 school.
I’ve also been in a restaurant in Florida when Jimmy Carter showed up. He about 4 Secret Service guys with him as far as I could tell. Wasn’t much of a concern.
I was also in a formation during a military parade when we were casing the colors of the Berlin Brigade when I was in the Army.
Much bigger deal. We had Clinton there whom was the sitting POTUS at the time, Helmut Kohl whom was the PM of Germany at the time, and Eberhardt Diepkin whom was the Mayor of Berlin at the time. Much higher security. We had to go through metal detectors about 4 hours before the ceremony began, and there were snipers on the roofs of many of the buildings in the area.

For instance, they can’t talk about UFOs in a serious and respectful way.
