Tara, Mike, Chris, Mark, Cory and Rob play through and teach you how to play Citadels the Card Game. This is a fantastic game with Kings, Thiefs, Assassins and more all trying to build their own Citadels and stop the other players from doing so.

Good catch on the Assassination error - but also, aren't you supposed to "burn" a card before the king chooses his role?  Otherwise, the player immediately to the left of the King knows exactly who the King is...

I recently decided that i might hop on the board games bandwagon, and happen to stop by a specialty store that has tons of board games, and the guy recommended this, seems interesting. I might start running game nights etc.

OK, I wanted to re-familiarize myself with this game because we never have a good enough group to play….something that has recently changed.
But this isn't a good "tutorial" on how to play the game - it shows you PLAYING, but it really doesn't go over the rules of how to pick the cards (with the two being left in the center and the last person gets to choose from that) to other rules as to  how districts get destroyed, etc.
It looks like you had fun - but I was hoping for  a little more explanation.

Yes! I was always wondering how to play this game, as my friends always talk about it. Now I can fake not knowing what I am doing and hustle them ;)

Just picked up the game and I'm a bit confused. Judging from the comments there's some controversy here.

(1) The rules make it sound like you can play the special ability (*) at any time in the course of a player's turn, but you're playing them at the end. Which is correct?
(2) The first time we played through, the assassinated and "thieved" characters called themselves immediately. You wait until it's that character's turn. The rules are ambiguous. Which is correct?

i play with my friends Citadels a lot. We even have the expansion pack and we combine some roles from it.
The game is perfect if you got competitive friends who play to win like I do. Scheming and predicting what will others choose is the core of the game.
Just don't use Tax Collector, he sucks :P

Thanks for the video, but considering you guys are "tech geeks" you could have done a better job with the audio. I know I sound like a dick, but if you're going to film a great game, put a little more production value into your 20-minute video. You've got over 1, 000 subs and the production should show that. It doesn't. Even wearing headphones I had to crank it up to the max. Just sayin'. Keep up the great work.

Could you tell me the text of Smithy card, please?
I think russian edition of this game has a mistake: "pay 2 gold and take 3 cards from District deck". Is it correct? Or we have to pay 3 gold for 2 cards? Thank you.

I don't get why the game says it is all about bluff? How can you bluff in this game? All you do is follow a sequence of rules, there is no bluffing or backstabbing as you don't know who has which role? Actually it looks kinda boring to me?

A personal favorite of yours? As far as I can tell, you put zero effort into reading and understanding the rules. You are playing incorrectly at under 2 minutes into the video and that's all I care to watch.

I would never use my pool table to let my friends play.
I know how to the table would be raped by their dirty hands.
Fortunately I don't own one. :D
