How to parawing | Pocket wing tutorial

Thanks to Greg from BoardRidingMaui for creating a new way to have fun on the water!

Once on foil, the Maliko parawing packs away, leaving nothing in the way of endless, ultimate glide. Without interference from any lingering gear to manage, the experience is left undisrupted in its purest form. Just you, in harmony with the water’s energy through your foil and board; the pure bliss we’ve long searched for.

Beyond revolutionizing the riding experience, the Maliko parawing has elevated our entire experience. Ultra compact and light, it's a joy to take anywhere. There’s no bladder to pump or leak, or anything to gas-up or plug-in. With no setup, we’re launching and riding in places that we never considered with an inflatable wing or kite. We just throw it up or paddle out, pop-up on foil, and start our downwinder, or hook-in and jam upwind. Every part of the experience is entirely new and crazy fun.

Thanks for the extra footage from BRM, Walker Hendricks @mcflowi and Kellen Hall @waterboii

Another excellent Gwen video, useful to understand that Gwen’s skill level is off the charts, he doesn’t need a parawing, wing or paddle to pump himself onto foil

Thanks for making this video Gwen! Definitely a cool tool to learn to downwind and get lots of reps. Excited to see what the industry does in reaction to the parawing. Probably even better designs coming.

I think one of the mistakes I see from people learning this is that they try to pump the parawing like a LEI wing, and half the time it stalls in that dynamic movement. This might be the perfect tool to focus only on leg/foil pump while holding the parawing steady for a little extra assistance. So cool!

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking of trying a parawing with my pumpfoil from the dock, instead of using a wing—which is currently my favorite foiling setup.

great video, game changer for Maui and Hood River.

Great video Glen! Only thing I would add is that the harness seems to help going upwind, especially when overpowered. Using two hands on the bar also helps.

Great video Gwen! Interesting that you took off on what would be toe side. It seems less severe than doing that with a wing, but if you turn off the wind and leg pump it’s more like a paddle up angle.

I use both hands at front of bar (front hand underhand) going upwind, both toe and heel side no pressure at all on arms and gives u more control, unless wind is light then I use one hand

The parawing goes upwind very well. The angle of attack of the wing is controlled with the hand position on the bar. Hand forward and it's flying off the front lines...hand pressure on your little finger and you will feel it start to stall and drop back. Much more of a kite feel than a wing.

I like your idea, that it is good to learn for pumping.

Do you think you need a mid-length board or a regular wingfoil board would be ok to start foiling with the parawing. I am 70kg and i have a 70 liter fone rocket S. thanks

Salut Gwen, désolé mon anglais est pas top ! Est-ce utilisable avec un surf skate ? Si oui ! Le plus petit ? Merci ! André

How much pull is there? I can't imagine trying to hold onto my wing with just one hand. If the parawing has similar that just seems like a lot of force to hold onto.
