The 6th generation is definitely a good one. I got one for only 150$. The 6th is still supported with software. It may just have a year left, though. The 5th one is not too bad either, Just an update or two behind with only 120$.

I mainly do audio and had a 4th gen that became a frustration, so I sold it cheap to an acoustic artist friend who needed it just for lyrics. Last Christmas I got my GF a mint in box 9th gen and to be honest? Now I’m kinda jealous. My Mac ecosystem consists of:
A 2013 i7 iMac that I repaired/refurbish myself, and an iPhone XR.
So, I’m definitely browsing for the best budget options.
