Updates since producing this video. The CPU fan, despite having 4 pins, will run at 100%. There isn't even a BIOS option to change that. Also the physical 16x PCIe slot, gets detected by CPU-Z as only being 8x physical. Turbo Boost isn't working at all, so the CPU will run at Base Clock at the most. VRM temps check out fine though, 54C under load with CPU-Z.

Asside from wanting to add some cooling to those VRMS, the actual quality of those boards is suprising, might be worth checking out in those countries with a poor 1155 Used Offering. Very nice checking these out.

Few years later, they upgraded the motherboard with the specs to include support with m.2 nvme ssd. Eg: Imperion, x-star, varro prime etc...

Looks like a decent deal! Sandy/Ivy Bridge CPUs still hold up even today.

Dude. I freaking Love you! I've been finding it hard to get a decent 1155 board that supports third gen for cheap!

Thanks for this video! Some spare components of mine have been needing a good home. Your RX 560 usage gave me some helpful info. ♥

This is suprisingly modern for this channel. Having said that these boards would be a good basis for a high end Windows XP retro machine. I might do something similar at some point. I have a Radeon HD7870 that should do the job for the graphics side of things.

This looks like the format used in those mini PC by Acer and eMachines.
Could be nice to upgrade one of those, and make a good mini PC, they have a 220W PSU by Delta or Chicony so enough room for a good GPU.You should try to get your hands on the ASL GTX1050Ti Low Profile single slot that's on AliExpress for around 160€. I'm curious to see what it's worth in terms of heat and noise.

It's a "DTX" size board, will fit many ITX cases which have the two (or three) slots on the back panel.

I bought a Gigabyte GA-H67A-USB3-B3 for 40€ including shipping last week, these 1155 Motherboards are just worth every cent :^)

I bought a cheap B75 board for my i5-3470, about a little over a year ago. The board still works fine for the most part, but a few weeks ago all 6 of the USB 2.0 ports just stopped working. Windows still sees the controller, but the ports simply don't output any power to the peripherals. Luckily, the 4 USB 3.0 ports still work, so I can still manage to use the computer. But take it as a word of warning. These boards might not last nearly as long as say, an Asus.

Great video Phil.... Please measure the heat on these things... Tech Yes did a vid on the Huanan boards and those get dangerously hot.

My first Core i series motherboard was an Intel DH61WW with an i5 2300 and it was a whole new world but the board had some downsides as a large GPU covered two of the four SATA ports as well as the only X1 PCI-E slot, so no USB 3.0 card with a decent GPU. Also, my revision only allowed up to an i7 2700K but some revisions supported the 3770K. It was a nice introduction to the i series but also let me know how important the premium boards could be, as far as expandability goes.

volt reg's seems to be the common item noted about these cheap china boards when referring to overclocking not being a good idea. Sometimes I think reviewers tend to assume such things and don't bother actually seeing how long it would last under such conditions. My thought is, try it, if it burns out the board in a year, few months, couple weeks, then that is still very useful data.

That looks like a DTX form factor. Some "ITX" Cases will support it

Just in time for a tinge of buyers remorse for my 68 dollar H77. Thanks for the video!

I was so lucky to be in the right time and place to get my hands on a $325 i72600k (Fry's electronics special limited stock) back when it first came out in 2011. the chip is still awesome, my motherboards don't last though. I'm so out of the pc building scene I can't see myself throwing down money for a newer chip. Its nice to know LGA 1155 socket MOBO are still being designed. I might try to go ITX this time. Great vid
