Frankenstein Letter 2

Letter II of "Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus" by Mary Shelley is a novel that is written in epistolary or letter format and was one of the first science fiction books that was written by a woman. Still, it is one of the many in the Gothic or Horror genre written by women. Mary Shelley was the daughter of Mary Wollstonecraft and William Godwin, both famous in their own right, and the second wife of the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Strangely enough, this book was written on a dare to write or tell a compelling, scary story while the Shelleys were vacationing in Switzerland with Lord Byron. It was there that the very bones and fragments of "Frankenstein" had come to life due to a dream that Mary Shelley had. It just goes to show that sometimes we create our own Frankensteins out of seconds of inspiration.
