As a Canadian, I love seeing 40% of my salary disappear so we can have "free" health care. I love seeing how we have to wait five years for surgery or the fact that I can't even see a doctor with an appointment unless I have a family doctor, which only half the people have.
Considering that half of our taxes go to the health sector, I would, without missing a second, accept halving my taxes and getting private insurance like you get in the US. It would save me an enormous amount of money, and I'd actually be able to see a doctor if I needed to.
Universal health care isn't all unicorns and rainbows; there's a dark side to it.
