I saw a lot of times that teachers and people say that it's [i], But every time in practice when I listen to this word I hear like "bin" and was confused and suspected my ears hear it wrong. But now finally you confirmed my doubts!

I'm English from England and we pronounce it been here the same as bean. I've been watching an American TV show and noticed one character saying 'ben' for 'been.'

Where I live the “ben” pronunciation is more common. I notice some of my vowels are slightly different from how she pronounces things.
