totally get that "all my interests are peaking at the same time AHHH what do I spend my free time doing!?" I've been feeling this way so much lately! I love that you've set out goals for yourself because I definitely do the same thing at the beginning of the year! for movies, I'm trying to finish the 100 Movies I Missed challenge, and then I want to read 15 books this year (would totally be open to more, but I don't want my expectations for myself to be too high and then be disappointed) great video Bailee, I just subbed, can't wait for more of your content!

Great update Bailee! It's good to see what you've got going for the year. Best of luck reading 52 books this year, it is quite the goal but I believe in you 😁 Hope all is well in your world.

Hi Bailee. Thanks for sharing your movie and reading goals for the year. I'm very much a mood reader and film watcher so I wish I had better goals for reading and watching films/TV. I read so much online (news, technical articles, work material) that reading books for me has been very slow. I work on a few books at a time so right now I'm working on When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron and Devotions: The Selected Poems of Mary Oliver. For films this year, I'm working on watching all films in Criterion's Essential Fellini box set though I'm often distracted by a favorite sitcom, drama series, YouTube videos, and other movies based on my mood (lately, I'm rewatching older Al Pacino movies). Great video and thoughts on books and film. Hope you are doing well.

I am reading Perfume right now. I usually decide what I am reading next shortly before I finish a book. For movies, I have a lot of Criterion’s that I need to watch.

Would highly highly recommend Tess of the D'Ubervilles, Never Let Me Go, and The Remains of the Day. All three are favorites of mine :). I don't necessarily have any specific goals in mind; I'm just trying to tackle my tbr and bring it down. As for movies there are some Criterion films (including Tess) that have been on the backburner that I've been meaning to watch but I've also been coming across some new ones that I want to see as well like At Eternity's Gate. Excellent video! I always like seeing someone's reading/watching plan :)

I love the idea of doing your favorite movie from each year you have been alive!!!! Ohmygosh, I might steal that because that sounds fun!!! And also a book version...? Maybe...? Did you see there is a Criterion challenge? I am interested in doing it but I haven't found the list again since I saw it originally. But it is one of those basic 52 challenge things, so one prompt for each week and then you find what movie you want that fits the challenge. Ah, I am on the third book for the Vampire Chronicles, lol...I would like to finish it eventually. WHAT?!? They are adapting it?!?!? But Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned are two of my favorite movies and then they are going to change everything. I am kind of upset, not gonna lie. Lol, I love Wuthering I hope you get to it!!! Hope you are having a good start to the year!!!

I really hope you read Madame Bovary! Such a perfect and elegantly written book with universal and timeless themes. Probably in my top 5 books of all time. I really need to read Tess too as I adore the Polanski adaptation.

Last year, I managed to achieve my reading and watching goals. With the former, I cheated a bit with short stories, but with the latter, I already achieved my goal in the Summer, and then had to make another goal, which I managed to finish just before the year ended. This year my goal is to read 50 novels, I’ll try to not cheat this time. It will mostly include classics, but some modern non-fiction too. With films, my plan is to watch as many films as possible and as widely as possible as always. Also, I want to watch over 200 Criterion films this year, have already watched ~ 30, so should be easy. Anyway, here’s to another year of hopefully not failing with our goals 😏.
