A4 B5 1.8t Clutch Masters Fx400 6 puck chatter

Clutch Masters Fx400 6 puck clutch with a lightweight flywheel.
Testing out the chatter on the Audi B5 1.8t but for some reason it didn't want to chatter on me.

A clutch can't chatter in neutral.
It only happens when you shift and release the clutch pedal.
I'm guessing what you heard could possibly be the throw out bearing?

what i've seen is you have to depress the clutch and then release it to hear the chatter.

Yea, I run a light weight flywheel also, the chatter you hear is from the gearbox. Especially when the car is hot. Seriously go try what I said, if it doesn't stop the sound I'll be astonished.

Next time you hear the sound, without pressing the clutch pedal at a stop, move the shifter towards 4th gear (not into it, just towards it, and not hard), I bet the sound goes away.

Could it be gearbox chatter? I bet it only happens in neutral, and it goes away when you press the clutch in all the way. Or you push the shifter towards a gear, not into gear but towards it so the synchros are slightly engaging without pressing on the clutch. This puts slight pressure on the gearbox and I bet the chatter goes away. An easy fix is to use thicker transmission oil, as it probably only happens when the car is hot, and I noticed your car was smoking as if it was cold starting.

Just had my fx400 240mm installed 3-5-14. Does your car sound different during start up now? I get this weird sound now on turns to. I only put 50 miles on the car but it doesn't sound right. Also does your clutch pedal have no feel on top then a couple of inches of pressure? Im dropping my car off tomorrow to be looked at.

I got a audi b5 a4 when I put it in gear in let off the clutch completely the car stay running what that means

Sadly this clutch has now died!  lasted about 49k miles..  Going to replace it real soon as it is slipping!
