First Look at Microsoft Windows Server 2022

Bob Pellerin "CTOBOB" shows what makes up basic services in a Microsoft infrastructure by showing the soon-to-be-released Windows Server 2022 . Although this video does not cover the new features specifically, it instead uses it to provide a foundation on which to understand what the server can be used for in your environment. This version, as in previous versions, can be run as a virtual machine. On VMWare vSphere ESXi 7, for example.

Services covered include Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP are discussed and explained. The Microsoft Windows Server 2022 (beta) is shown with the optional Graphical User Interface (GUI) which was selected at installation.

Note: Although the non-GUI installation is more secure, it relies on commands and thus more difficult to show to those starting off in networking.

Warning: You should never use pre-release versions in a production environment as you may discover bugs, compatibility issues, or experience feature changes without warning. The current stable version as of the making of this video is Windows Server 2019.

... you get wildly off topic, and you're explaining windows server, not what's new in 2022.... my suggestions

Thanks for sharing the information. I've used up to Server 2016 and what you covered in the video are pretty much identical. I thought Server 2022 would have Windows 11 like interface, but it stayed with Windows 10 look like.

Great video. The password complexity would need to be setup in GP :)

I didn't hit thumbs up or down (I never hit thumbs down unless the video is really bad... and never for small businesses, as I'm a huge advocate) because what I was hoping for was a Win 2022 review or comparison to 2019 (or why upgrade), not a how-to which is what you provided, and has nothing to do with Win 2022... everything you said could have been applied to any version of windows back to 2000. Nobody has any good videos on "Why you should upgrade" if you already have WIn 2016 or 2019 Server, and just as importantly ... who should not bother.

While windows server is a real thing there isn't much point in talking about it yet because at the moment it's still very similar to windows 10 and isn't going to be anything like that when it releases but it's most likely that it will more resemble windows 11 at launch to keep the windows timeline consistent and also it still uses the old logo at the moment which is outdated as Microsoft has changed the logo of windows and server editions Will change to that new logo too
