Fun fact about HMS Glowworm: Her personality in AL is like that because the true Glowworm had a history of ramming other ships, mostly her own allies. Her last ram was when she was in a scouting mission and accidentally stumbled upon KMS Admiral Hipper. The fight was one sided and a shell from Hipper struck her rudder, jamming it. As a last ditch effort, the captain ordered his men to brace for impact and ram at full speed. The ram moved both ships out of course, while Glowworm took a beating and was taking in water, Hipper only had a scratch.

The Captain of Hipper ordered to make a drastic change in course to save the men onboard Glowworm. Most of the British seamen were saved. Unfortunately, the Captain was swept away by the rough tides trying to save another. His body was never found. The Brits were treated kindly by the Germans. Even complimented by the Hipper's captain and her crew. Sharing the same bed, having the same meal, and eating in the same kitchen.

Later, the captain of Admiral Hipper made a letter towards the British Royal Navy command, honouring the crew and stating a request towards the Brits to make a medal for the crews of Glowworm as a tribute for their bravery and valiant sacrifice.
