Just saw the trailer then saw this in my notifications. I do really like the look of this character, he gives me Voldemort and the Mummy vibes.

I hear you with saying your excitement for the figure is based on the character's potential in the film, I felt that way in 2020 picking up the MCU Taskmaster, needless to say I sold off that figure a few months ago.

The film looks tonally very similar to Ragnarok, but I hope they manage to keep this character at least somewhat serious, Hela was a bit too casual and jokey with her dialogue for me, and based on his backstory Gorr sounds like he could be a really scary but also somewhat sympathetic character which I hope is the direction they're taking.

Then again last time we had a former Batman play an MCU villain it was one of the best villains we ever got, so hopefully that trend continues.

It would be cool if towards the end during the final battle, Gorr is extremely disfigured by the power of the blade and assumes his iconic comic look for the final battle. Or throughout the movie he becomes more and more mutated. That would be cool.

It’s all about the payoff. Christian Bale can do his acting for the majority of the film, but at the end, I think the payoff should be his true appearance from the comics. Payoff is everything. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.

I hope this is his initial design so as not to spoil his true design.

The figure looks about as well as it could be, given the design.

As for the design, I don't like it yet. I'm sure the movie might give some context to elements of his design, like the scarring or clothing, but this translation might be the biggest deviation from any comic character.

Part of the reason that Gorr was so terrifying was because he was foreign. He was a different species that we've never seen before, he had unique differences from human anatomy, and it's things like this that make him more frightening because he's less knowable. Mysterious will always be more terrifying because the full capacity of their capabilities and motives can exceed our imaginations.

The movie design looks like "human in robes." He doesn't have that fear of the unknown element about him. He has all the features that we do and we wears the same kind of garb that we would.

He immediately loses much of the mysterious allure and terror based on his physical familiarity alone.

Nice review. I don't get a ton of MCU figures, and it was an easy decision to skip this wave... buuut you got me giving it a second look. I do hope Gorr ends up having the black power come out of him the movie.

I wish he looked more like the comic book version. I like they're not making him completely CGI. He just reminds me almost like an Avatar of a God with the robes like Moon Knight. Not sure I guess.

I’m seeing a Prometheus type character as if he were merged with a warrior monk whose zeal is scary. Gods with massive powers slain by an unassuming character. He will not be cracking jokes. This character as seen in the design is all business. He was driven to this role of killing gods. The scars show pain as his focus. I was hoping the figure could get into two handed wielding options. This sword is heavy as it gets stronger and stronger with all the gods it has slain. I do think we might see the dark shadowy power manifested in a shroud or shadow creatures who do his bidding. They might give a connection to Hela and this necrosword, might. Cool looking figure.

Thinking about him just as a figure and not so much depending on the movie, I do think the release isn't as good as it could have been. He doesn't seem to grab the sword that well and there are almost no accessories. His articulation is more limited than I'd like and his look isn't bad, I do agree his face and head look really good but it just feels like they applied a lot around there and then the rest was at minimum effort. He is the bad guy, I would have really expected some more work on his look, even if they could include some shading or whatever. Accessories and articulation failing a bit, I would have liked something more in the looks department. Like you said, the skirt piece could have been cut in a better way so he could move better. The design is limiting but it could be engineered in a better way. I don't know, he just doesn't do it for me. I did love the pics you uploaded at the end! He didn't look that white there but gray and dark in cool ways, improving his look a lot!

The Gorr figure from Thor Love and Thunder is so cool and awesome. Gorr is portrayed by the actor Christine Bale, the same guy who plays Batman way back in 2005 from the movie Batman Begins
