Oldest Town in Every State.

What is going on everyone? Welcome to the World According to Briggs. How about we take a look at the oldest cities in the United States. Most people in the United States get it wrong when asked what is the oldest city or town in their state. Most people know St. Agustine, Florida is the oldest city in the United States but not many people know about their own state. That is the focus of today's video, letting you know which towns are the oldest. The United States doesn't have the oldest cities in the world but we are a young country compared to most other countries.
I hope you enjoy this video. Please like, share, and comment.

Fun fact! Maryland's oldest one, st marys City, isn't really a town anymore. It now serves as an archeological site and college with a lot of cool reconstructed buildings.

Briggs, the comedian’s name was Red Skelton, not Skeleton. Skelton. I watched his variety show when I was a kid and I also watched most of his old movies. Reportedly a very nice man.

Hi there. The entertainers name is not skeleton….but Skelton

Richard Red Skelton (July 18, 1913 – September 17, 1997) was an American entertainer best known for his national radio and television shows between 1937 and 1971, especially as host of the television program The Red Skelton Show. He has stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in radio and television, and also appeared in burlesque, vaudeville, films, nightclubs, and casinos, all while he pursued an entirely separate career as an artist.

I enjoy this list, but personally I think it would have flowed better if instead of naming off by alphabetical order of State, it should have been by which one was the oldest on the list to which one was the newest on the list. I feel like it would have been easier to keep track that way

Fun fact: Wabasha, MN is best known as the setting of the film "Grumpy Old Men." I've been there, that whole Highway 61 drive along the Mississippi River in Minnesota is fantastic.

I like how he said "continuously occupied city in the United States" when he mentioned St. Augustine, Florida. Because Pensacola, Florida is technically older then St. Augustine, but it was abandoned after two years due to a hurricane before it was reestablished.

I always used to assume that Detroit was the oldest city in Michigan until I realized it was actually Sault Ste Marie. But it makes sense since French fur trappers-traders came into Michigan from the upper Peninsula

Fun fact: The oldest city (being continuously inhabited) in the United States is technically San Juan, Puerto Rico, which was founded in 1521, whereas St Augustine, FL, was founded in 1565.

Stealicoom, Wa is where you catch the Ferry to McNeil Fed Prison a 4000+ acres island. As a kid I fished off the dock in Stealicoom.

We live in Leavenworth KS. Fort Leavenworth has 2 military prisons. Leavenworth has a Federal prison, a Federal Detention center, Kansas state prison, and just down the road a Woman’s federal prison. Prison city USA. 😂

Technically, Pensacola is the oldest European settlement. Settled several years prior to St. Augustine, but it was abandoned, making St. Augustine the oldest continually inhabited establishment.

Since your channel is called WORLD According to Briggs, I hope you will consider expanding your scope to other countries around the world. It might give you more material to work with too. All the best!

The two towns named Sault Ste. Marie across the river from each other actually used to be the same town but when the border was made it got cut and we got the smaller part. No seriously Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan(Approximately 13, 900) and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario (Approximately 110, 000)

As someone from Ogden, UT I can explain why people here are not nice. Ogden is basically the Detroit of Utah.
