In which John Green, Hank Green, and Emily Graslie teach you about, well, everything. Big History is the history of everything. We're going to start with the Big Bang, take you right through all of history (recorded and otherwise), and even talk a little bit about the future. It is going to be awesome. In the awe-inspiring sense of the word awesome. In this episode, we walk you through the start of everything: The Big Bang. We'll look at how the universe unfolded at its very beginning, and how everything in the universe that we know today came into being. So that's kind of a big deal, right?

it's somehow mindblowing that humans created a math, that explains circumstances that we cannot comprehend.

The big bang happened because the universe divided by 0

The thing I like the most about this is that I can pause it. I can't pause my teachers to take notes. :/

"Oh, my goodness! This is nuts! How did we get trees?!" is actually a thought I have pretty much weekly. Thanks, John Green.

Am I the only one who pauses the intro every scene to read the little bubbles?

i just needed to pause for about ten minutes and fully comprehend the fact that if something is "13.8 billion light years away, we're looking at the light that left it 13.8 billion years ago". that's incredible!!

Little suggestion? Instead of using Fahrenheit, a barbaric unit of measurement, why don't we use Kelvin? Or Celsius?

A long time ago. Actually never. And also now. Nothing is nowhere. When? Never. Makes sense, right? Like I said, it didn't happen. Nothing was never anywhere. That's why it's been everywhere. It's been so everywhere you don't even need a where. You don't even need a when. That's how every it gets.

Videos like this shake me to the core. They make you feel like you are beyond nothing and nothing beyond that. And I say that with nothing but humility not negativity. 13.8 billion years ago? An atom sized beginning? The universe itself will one day die? 😔😌🙂😁 Thanks John and Hank.

I'm hearing you say "was created" when you should be saying "formed."
