This is my “Master Class” for OBS Studio. I’ve spent basically all of 2017 researching, scripting, revising, shooting, and producing this course, and I’m quite proud of what it’s become. This should be a fantastic all-in-one reference guide with the software, with just minimal updates required for new features.

This course will primarily focus on the Windows version of OBS Studio. I have some minor points that reference differences with macOS and Linux setup, but I cannot currently go in-depth with those versions at this time.

Also, this video is available in a full 4K UHD 60 frames per second format. This will give you not only the best visual quality, but the best clarity for viewing text and settings menus.

Thanks for watching!

The technique of adding a scene to a scene was awesome! Had to rewind and watch like 10 times until I got it, but it's worth it!

Hey man, great tutorial! I've been looking for a way to record my screen as well as web cam input for some training videos I want to do. I've played with OBS in the past, but could never figure out how to make it to what I wanted. I watched a few minutes of several of your videos, and was able to make the program do EXACTLY what I wanted. And the videos look great! I'm even getting some ideas of how to use it for some personal projects I want to do. Thanks so much!

I'm just starting to learn about OBS, live streaming (choosing YouTube over Twitch), and I wanted to let you know that I have watched a bunch of your videos...including this one.  Last night, I bought the HDMI to Camera Cable (hooking up my Canon 70-D and my Logitech C920 Webcam. - I also bought the ACK-E6 Power adapter so that I can run the 70-D on AC rather than a battery... I took your advice and that of two others familiar with CamLink...and bought the  Elgato Cam Link - $129.00 on AMAZON . Finally, so that I can do streaming right...and use two cameras, I bought the Elgato Stream Deck which many streamers use.  My studio is ready to roll...green screen, computer (new Dell) two monitors for OBS (extending to 2nd monitor) . audio mixer tied in to the OBS and a very cool mic.  I have only the experience of shooting videos (about 400 on YT) for my regular YT channel/jtylermusic, so I'm learning as much as I can to set up the OBS and streaming.  My first OBS venture is for millennials who have no clue about budgets and finances (which is why many people are broke) - but, I am honing my skills so that the first video using OBS comes out cool.  I'll post it on  my channel and not stream yet.  Still learning from you and a few others...so thankyou!  John Tyler

Great tutorial. Can I add a Roland VH02HD video switcher as a video capture source? What's the proper setup (devices) consist of?

Please help with a question I have ! BUT FIRST ! Your videos are the only clearest and detailed explanations I can find anywhere ! Your commitment to making a tutorial compendium master class with such a high production quality and ultimately practical use is unbelievable. Thank You for what you do ! As an educator, I appreciate those who teach and do it well - that's you !

Question: I am having the most challenging time having Powerpoint display as a window capture in OBS. I am running OBS 23.2.1 on Mac OS Mojav 10.14.6 on a Macbook Pro 2019. When I select window capture, it does not display the powerpoint despite selecting in powerpoint ''Browsed by an Individual (window)' and then hitting 'Play slide show' or 'Presenter view' . Sorry, any assistance you can provide would help me greatly !

I want to be able to record the OBS program like you did at the start before you added sources and scenes how did you do that? How are you able to record everything you're doing to begin with without the infinite screen capture background? I've watched so many videos that jump right into how to add sources and scenes, but not how to start. I'm sorry if this is a trivial question, but any help is appreciated. I tried to go from source to source but the screen would go black unless I went back to original source I started with and so on and so forth.

Hi, I want to add a screen saying, "stream will start shortly" and when ready, have that screen disappear and have my game capture (stream) video play. I wanted to know which video shows that because in this video you mentioned scene but didnt go into detail.

I'm new to OBS Studio. Can you help me figure out how to change from a Display Capture to a different scene without having the OBS screen appear again in my recording? The Hotkey I set up for "Switch to Scene" does not work to switch directly to the new scene.

GREAT stuff, thank you so much EposVox, on my way through your course.
The overlay nesting (06:55) makes 'global styles' easy, got it.

Some noob ?, I'll read up on them and ask the Discord channel but anyway:
Isn't a 1080p webcam feed quite taxing on the system?
Can it be disconnected when not shown or another scene is shown to improve performance?
Why 60 fps for webcam feeds of, I guess, mostly you sitting steadily in your chair...?

- top props for the drama at 08:22 :)

For some reason I can't display my powerpoint slideshow presentation in OBS and in fact any source that I try to add appears as a black box. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Looks like all is covered, but my FX overlay in Reaper is not showing, having trouble finding reason, just bought Video capture HDMI 4k, happy otherwise.
