Even plants consume microbes in the soil. Letting the animals be and act as animals with clean conditions and ample food and clean water in a herd environment, makes for a healthier soil and wider diversity in the wildlife and even the predator species.

Read a book called, "The Omnivores Dillemma" by Michael Pollen. It was written around 20 years ago and I believe it contributed to this agricultural revolution.
