"It's all about doing what you want to do and not letting society's expectations shape your future." Very good advice, especially for young Americans. In my experience talking to others, people in the United States tend to see your profession as your identity and place too much emphasis on what you do for a living, rather than being interested in who you are as a person and defining you by your individual characteristics.

As a software engineer by trade, I have never been to college and yet have been very successful. I started by buying books and studying for certifications, earning my MCSE, MCDBA, MCSD, Security+ and multiple others. I got experience by starting off volunteering with my newly learned skills. I now manage a team dispersed around the world for merchandising and supply chain IT operations systems. With a few years experience, normal salaries are $70k+. With more experience, a Sr. engineer can easily make over $100k. And I am in the midwest US, not in a high-priced market like CA or NY. Best of luck!

As someone with a college degree and a job in the same field as that degree. I still wish I would have went to school for a trade instead. I have a great respect for someone who masters a trade and makes good money doing it. Also, great video!

Things are getting worse, it's so bad that having a job doesn't mean financial security

I'm not usually into business and learning about interest or what not from your other videos but I can't help myself but to stream through a lot of your content. Keep up the work, you have the skill to peak peoples interest.

Went to college for 2 semesters, really struggled and soon learned it wasn't really going to impact my career (sales). I left and started working a day job and a night job and I've started out making about 30, 000 which isn't a lot, but as I work harder and build my book of business, it should easily be doubled in the next 3 years which is about how long it would have taken me to finish school and right now I have income and no debt. I think it's gonna take people that went to college are gonna take probably 4 or so years to catch up with me and some careers may not even pass me. I have no regrets and I plan on starting real estate investing in a year or two.

Can confirm as a video editor, school is not needed and honestly wish I held out of it. I got a job at a local news station video editing, just on my experience

I did pressure washing this season. Once I upgraded my equipment and got a little better at sales I was making between $100-$200/hour. I dunno how much that dropped when you take in ad cost, travel time and stuff like that. But it’s definitely around the $100/hr mark.

Hey Mark, I'm a student who is currently studying to attempt our national medical university exams. Your videos have been very eye opening and I never thought I would be this interested in finances and topics like it. Thank you for this channel!

Thanks Mark! I didn’t want to do Collage because of the debt - these jobs might give me a chance to earn enough for Collage when I leave High School 3 years from now

The part about being a radiographer is a bit dated but not entirely. I am a radiologic technologist in the US and technically you don't have to have a degree or license in my state (Michigan) but you would be very hard pressed to find a gig that pays what the profession is worth. Most of the states require a degree and license to work has a radiographer. It is a great field and school is much less time and money for it if you find the right program and do your research. Thanks mark! Love the vids.

Hey Mark, I am thinking of doing sneaker flipping as a side hustle for little bit of extra cash, do you think it is a valid side hustle or is it too competitive

Hey Mark, which service should I use if I’m a beginner investor in Ireland? Free trade is only for UK users at the moment and I would like to start soon

This video is powerful. You just revealed so many great options. It’s strange how you can read these on a page and be uninspired, but like you said I guess as technology advances the value of the visual modality only increases. I personally have three trades and went to job corps- my resume is always glowing. I don’t worry about a degree- it’s just a piece of paper but nothing beats real experience. Thank you for sharing these other avenues in such a nice format: I was not even aware of half of them.

How about some advice to help us in the late 30s early 40s. You know, the group that already have responsibility, but still want to move up in life, but can't just dump what they are doing to restart like someone in their 20s

I’ve been watching some of your videos on YouTube shorts, and I was trying so hard to find out your name. Eventually, I found it. Love your content, mate.
