Im glad Joaquin Phoenix took the role of the American Legend Johnny Cash. To me he got it perfectly.

Oddly, I grew up listening to this version more than the original.

The resemblance in vocal range is pretty awesome. I swear, no one could come close to THE MAN IN BLACK than Joaquin. Him and Reese did such an impressive and amazing job on vocals and acting both. Both June and John would be proud.

When I become a grandfather, I'll take my grandchildren, seat them in my knees, and I'll tell them that when I was in my 20ths-50ths, I had lived in the times of Joaquin Phoenix. This man is a giant-genius, actor-monster like Marlon Brando or even bigger. Did he was more real Cash than Cash himself? Of course not, but he recorded Cash's songs in better equipment (there's more bass and space in sound here), and he played and sung them in so brethtaking powerful way, so bloody authentic - that I usually return to this soundtrack more often than to original "At the Folsom Prison". Hats off!

It is amazing how much he really sounds like Johnny Cash. Love it!

I hear the train a comin'
It's rolling round the bend
And I ain't seen the sunshine since
I don't know when
I'm stuck in Folsom prison
And time keeps draggin' on
But that train keeps a rollin
On down to San Anton

When I was just a baby
My mama told me, "Son
Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns"
But I shot a man in Reno
Just to watch him die
When I hear that whistle blowing
I hang my head and cry

I bet there's rich folks eating
In a fancy dining car
They're probally drinkin' coffee
And smoking big cigarrs
Well I know I had it coming
I know I can't be free
But those people keep a-movin'
And that's what tortures me

Well if they'd free me from this prison
If that railroad train was mine
I bet I'd move it over a little further down the line
Far from Folsom prison
That's where I want to stay
And I'd let that lonesome whistle
Blow my blues away

Joaquin Phoenix did a great job as Cash. In fact, he did such a great job, I could bet money on it when I sat that if I put some cheering over this cover, I could probably convince someone who's heard about Johnny Cash, but never listened to him, that this was audio from a live Cash performance.

I like it, but I'm more into cash's country feel, for when I'm driving across Texas
