On February 12, 1973: Operation HOMECOMING, the repatriation of POWs from North Vietnam, began. The first C-141 Starlifter to leave Hanoi with former POWs, later dubbed the Hanoi Taxi, is on display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Operation HOMECOMING returned 591 POWs, including 325 Air Force personnel.
