A C Compiler for the Sol-1 Homebrew CPU

I started writing a C compiler for my homebrew CPU Sol-1. I worked on it for 3 days or so and now I will have to stop because no time! But I still wanted to make a quick video about it. Resolution not that great, my bad.

The best thing about hobby projects is that you have control on how far to take them. You can pursue them as long as you find them rewarding and you can stop when you get fed up with them or when your mind leads you to something more interesting. Never feel bad about not pursuing a hobby project to the point that you would consider completion. Such a project only exists as a means of pleasure for you.

I hope that you are able to earn an income commensurate with your engineering skills. You are obviously quite intelligent, creative, and productive.

I am sure your C compiler is becoming a useful tool for you at home and what you are learning by working on it will help you in your career. My hobby projects taught me more about engineering than I learned any where else. Operating on a minimum budget at home teaches you how to be efficient with resources and that pays off in professional work.

I have been retired now for more than a decade, but I still enjoy technical hobby projects all the time. May your hobbies pay off for you as mine have for me. Good luck.

Amazing, great job! I building too a CPU, but I use transistors only, I projected the ALU (1762 transistors) and I'm soldering it. Keep going, wondering project!

Cara mas falando uma parada que talvez vc n tenha percebido. Se vc se esforçar mais um pouco vc consegue construir um microcontrolador inteiro com uma arquitetura própria. Vc já absorveu bastante conhecimento nesses projetos que poderiam te ajudar a fazer algo desse tipo. Talvez um microcontroller seria uma ótima ideia pro seu próximo projeto.
