Best-remembered for his hits "Sheila" (1962) and "Dizzy" (1969), critic Bill Dahl wrote that Roe was "widely perceived as one of the archetypal bubblegum artists of the late 1960s, but Roe cut some pretty decent rockers along the way, especially early in his career.

On this day in 1970 {April 11th} Tommy Roe performed "Stir It Up and Serve It" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
The week before the song was at #61 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, that was also it's sixth and last week on the chart, and the month before on March 22nd it had peaked at #50 {for 1 week}...
And on the same 'Bandstand' show he also performed "Pearl", it entered the chart two months later on June 20th at position #91, and like "Stir It Up and Serve It", it peaked at #50, it stayed on the Top 100 for nine weeks...
Between 1962 and 1973 the Atlanta, Georgia native had twenty-two records on the Top 100 chart, six made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "Sheila" for 2 weeks in 1962 and "Dizzy" for 4 weeks in 1969...
