Being put in a box and stereotyped happens too often. Metal is a prime example of this. In this new Floor Finds I sat together with Henk Poort to discuss what it is like to be put in a box by others and what it feels like and the impact it can have on someone. What are your experiences? Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that we have just witnessed 2 people speaking a language which isn't their own flawlessly for 12 minutes and 27 seconds straight. And that this concept is commonplace in the Netherlands.

Yay, Henk! I'd never heard of him before Beste Zangers (as always, thanks to Denise for the translations) as I'm Canadian and not much of an opera fan. Totally love the man now, though. I quote him a lot when talking about music with people: "Good music is good music."

What I have taken away from this: Climb into the box, but never close the lid. Play in every sandbox you can. Becoming great at one thing is awesome, but a wider growth is so much more important. Balance is key.

Does anyone else just want a regular Floor and Henk podcast just talking complete music nerdery? I'm not a musician and don't understand some of their stuff, but they're so entertaining and have so much chemistry that you can't help but be interested.

When I was a kid, I was a hip-hop fan for years.
Then I got bored with it, and 10 years ago I switched to rock and metal,
but never been a Nightwish fan (too soft, etc.).😎
Since I rediscovered them, can't get enough of Floor and Nightwish!🔥🔥🤘

Henk Poort and Floor Jansen... two of the people I respect, admire, and adore the absolute most. I think people could learn a lot about respect, humility, dedication, determination, and adaptiveness by watching and listening to these two. I love them both so much!

Henk is so great person, very professional and great singer, but his person and aura carries so much kindness and peacefulness and a "solid rock" vibes, a father figure in a good sense, an "old and wise soul" - what you were talking about is exactly as said and very important for people to understand in todays "wrap it and sell it fast" music industry. That's why it is so refreshing and joyful to see an artist like Floor who pushes the boundaries and experiments and is amazingly and exceptionally perfect in any genre, professional in the preparations and performs anything better than I have ever heard or seen by anyone ever has delivered the emotions and the story/message through and sings like an Angel, which said in Floors case is even undermining her singing - it's a million miles ahead of others. OK blabbering here now, but what it means to me to hear Floor sing - pure joy and a beautiful trip inside of my own emotions - that is all any vocal artist can ever achieve as best - so thanks for these feelings and these minutes of eternal Paradise in music and singing, I always wish Floors performance would never end, it is just so insanely heavenly to live with. Looking forward to enjoy this in any forms most beautiful she decides to deliver it :D

"Two lovely people there!" Both work very hard at what they do and the results pay off. Floors vocals at the end of Nightwish's Shoemaker is other worldly. Listened to the album last night "A Masterpiece" of work by all involved.
