Our first dive into suits worn by pilots, in this case ones who flew the Lockheed A-12 which was a part of a top secret project during the 1960s. Known as the S901 this series of full pressure suits were very extensive seeing numerous versions and variants of said versions used by them through the operation as well as when operating with other aircraft such as the YF-12 and later on SR-71.

Memorizing the types and changes made me loose a precious childhood memory.

And now it starts. At 2:04 that's a picture of the YF-12A Advanced Manned Interceptor variant and not an A-12.
Great video though. This is a little covered subject in A-12 history. Thanks!

Indeed the 1961-62 David Clark S-901-E pressure "space" suit came with a little watch pocket & lid in the upper lefthand glove !

The Gemini space suits were developed in stages starting from the X-15 suit. The timeline is similar to the A-12/SR-71 suit development. Both were done by the David Clark company. The same growing knowledge base inevitably was used, and t would be very interesting to know what components developed for one program were incorporated into the other.

Yes, the requirement for the two suits diverged, especially since the Gemini suits were used for EVA, but this would make the comparisons even more interesting. You sir, have made an excellent video. Your reward is - our demand for more!

(The Mercury spacesuit was based on the high altitude suit used in Navy jets. Made by B.F. Goodrich, it was chosen over the X-15 suit because it was less bulky.)

The Spurs. F104 Starfighter also used spurs to attach to the ejection suit.

Could you do a general video about what troops would wear in the Donbass or the Balkan region during the recent conflicts?

That was very interesting. How about looking at the Sidcot suit and the Irvin flying kit used by the RAF?

It’s really surprising to see you haven’t done anything on Russia’s Gorka or Sumrak uniforms. Keep up the good work!

the Gemini suits look very similar to this design, and IIRC were also made by DC, were they an offshoot of this project too?
