As a four year Las Vegas/Henderson local, my top five local casinos are:
1. Red Rock
2. Green Valley Ranch
3. Sunset Station
4. Palms
5. El Cortez
Honorable mention: South Point.

As a local resident who likes playing slot machines two full days every single week, you're probably going to be shocked at my favorite casino. I love playing at Wynn/Encore because they have a very generous free play program specifically for local residents. I've been tracking my payback the past three years, and my cumulative rate is a very nice 93%. I play often enough that I get the Wynn dinner buffet comped once a month. Even though I live close by to the Durango, I dislike how closely packed the slot machines are, especially with all of the smokers. I do like Red Rock, but not enough to pull me away from Wynn.

Just stayed at Red Rock 2weeks ago. Wow, they have everything you need! Free valet. Rouge lounge has awesome live music on Fri and Sat. Restaurants are great. Pool is rock in and a cabana is affordable. Excellent spot for video poker. I will try the Dj/nightlife at GVR. Thanks for the review. I wanted to know your take on Sunset Station? Thank you.

We stayed @ RRock in June - awesome hotel, great restaurants…very comfortable. They don’t have many of the newer slot machines but certainly plenty to enjoy.

Not a local, but back when, it use to be Palace Station and Rampart, now it's definitely the Durango. My brother lives in Summerlin, so I've done the trio, Red Rock, Suncoast and Rampart a number of times. The Rampart was the place to hang with the locals. It's lacking in comparison, but I still have a soft spot for the Rampart; just not the Marriott. I only stay north strip, but when I get booted on a high price weekend, South Point is definitely my first call.

South Point is the best. Gaming is favorable, eats are great (I love the $1.50 hotdogs cart!! 11am-5pm daily), and don't overlook their showroom. They bring in a lot of nostalgia acts for very low ticket prices. For example, I went to see The Righteous Brothers show last month for $35 (good seat!). Bobbie Hatfield (RIP) is replaced but it was a real treat to experience Bill Medley live; he's now up around my age and his pipes are weakened, but still .... The freeway dumps you off right at the property; parking is free, and the seven-level parking garage makes it quick and easy in all weather and temps.

Palms is generous to slot players, even the low rollers. Free play more than once a week, good food comps, and an ongoing 2 free brunch buffets for racking up 500 base points on your players card.

South Point is number one for me. It's busy because the gambling odds are much better. The fact it has food bargains galore is another reason it can't be beaten. Durango wouldn't be on my list at all. A complete disaster for video poker schedules.

Not a local but been to all five of the Casinos on your list. My choices would be Durango, Suncoast, Red Rock, Green Valley and South Point. Really though they are all GREAT Casinos and you can't go wrong visiting any of them. Thanks for the review.

I always go to the Cannery. It’s up the street from it. I love their steakhouse there. check it out. I do stay away from the strip and Fremont Street. I go there when I have company in town.
