I remember when my daughter was turning 7, and wanted the plastic Fisher Price tool set from Toy's R Us (yeah, I'm that old) because she watched me build stuff with my tools. Well, I couldn't dream of spending $100 on a fancy piece of plastic crap, and they had a nice 3 piece combo set from Milwaukee (drill, grinder, saw) on sale at Home Depot for about $200... Anyways, we both were stoked about her birthday present that year... 🎉😂🎉

Excellent as always good Sir. I concur about the machete topic. My middle son was SOOO thrilled when we went camping one spring and i gave him the machete for “protection” (mostly to keep him occupied and deprogram his brain from xbox). He enjoyed the heck out of it, even after he managed to filet the palm of his hand. In retrospect I probably shouldn’t have sharpened it before we left.

My parents used to take my sons to their cabin in upstate NY, and they learned to bang the woodpile to chase the snakes out before grabbing the wood, how to split logs, how to saw branches... all the stuff that would have made me, the mom, nervous, but built their confidence hugely, and they all had fun! (Also gave them awesome memories with their grandparents). So if you don't feel right giving your kid a machete, get their grandparents to give it to them!

Great job on the trailer build out. A lot of times people get paralyzed with options when they want to start a project and fail to launch. They get stuck on researching the “right”way to do it instead of just starting with some cheap materials and sending it. Good luck on the stand!

I’ve found as I age that imperfection is perfection. I used to strive to make things I did as nice as possible only to wince when it would get scuffed or damaged by use. Nowadays I have set my standards lower and while it’s not perfect, it’s good enough and if something happens to it I don’t even care. It’s probably the most freeing feeling in the world!
