Being a well-rounded and effective worship leader requires a lot more than knowing how to play four chords on a guitar, having a decent voice, and wearing skinny jeans. A lot of aspiring worship leaders don’t have a firm grasp on the various facets of worship ministry. In this article, I’m going to share with you the five pillars of worship leading that are key for developing yourself as a worship leader and growing a healthy ministry.

I would add a sixth pillar: Theology. There are good songs, and then there are bad songs.... Songs with terrible or outright wrong theology. A worship leader needs to have theological discernment to know which songs to include and not include. This may come under the 'Pastoral Pillar', but not currently as you have described it. That's why I would call it a sixth pillar. Otherwise, great video!

Singing is optional. The best worship pastors I have worked with played a piano and directed everything. Personally I can't control my voice but lead worship in youth and Sunday nights for years.

Music theory is definitely the biggest weakness with most leaders.

Dude! I've been digging your videos so much. I've been leading worship for over 10 years now. I thought About starting a Sunday Vlog channel centered around Leading worship. I want it to be more than a hip vlog showing off gear and how cool of a job have. I want it to be a resource for people who are struggling in their ministry positions, or who are new to worship leading and just want to know what it's like. The highs and the lows. Any tips or advice on getting started?

I'm always struggling with speaking to the congregation while ministring I just sing and pray, any advice ?
