I think it represent ardhanarishwara thathvam, Left side is Shakthi (Feminine) and Right side is Shiva (Masculine). So left side he wears "Thaatanka" and Right side he wears "Kundana". I have seen this set of earrings pattern to nataraja, dhakshimoorthy and some old shiva paintings and sculptures in tamilnadu too.
- Thaatanka = Ear ornaments worn by goddess.
- Kundana = Ear ornaments worn by gods mostly*.

I have seen some old sculptures of durga and vishnu to cross check the facts and came to the conclusion. I hope it helps. BTW you are putting great efforts in studying the temples, sculptures and trying to find the science and meaning out of it. 🙌🏻✨️🕉
