He needs the squash and stretch like 05 model had. It looks good because it was exaggerated, removing the exaggeration means losing the appeal and having an animation not meant to have normal movements in mind

I honestly prefer this version in terms of jumps tbh. The fully yellow (or blue in Sonic's case) ball that we have nowadays for jumps just doesn't look natural or authentic. But this version of jumps looks more realistic because you can still see his body along with his natural speed color around it. It would look better in Sonic as well with his blue speed aura.
