I was sexual abused as a child by my father, my mother knew but choose to hide from it. I would only get toys if I did what he wanted then I stopped asking. From age 6 -16 I suffered daily with my body in constant fear of the next attack. I was forced to marry at 17, my brothers were allowed to continue education till they all got degrees but I did as I was told. I wasn’t a bad child if anything I was very submissive. I still went back to my parents and helped them with their daily living and what ever they wanted. I guess I still needed the feel to be wanted by them and loved by them. Me doing these things meant that they loved me and any acknowledgment I would get would mean they loved me. I now know they didn’t live me I was just a piece of meat they could use. This is just a small part of my story.
As a result of 42 years of trauma I have suffered a brain tumour, blood disorders, sever depression, pmdd, gut issues and I battle every day to survive the meantal and physical pain. The physical I can deal with but the mental torture of being unloved by the people who we’re supposed to protect you is unbearable.

Some men put a lot of responsibility on their spouse. Women are expected to be responsible for the rearing of children, taking care of the home, and working a job. Men think their only responsibility is to work.

"I think people have to be angry. Not enraged, not chonically resentful, but to be able to say, "no! You will not treat me in this way." So much healing in that! ❤

A medical study a few years ago concluded that 70% of women with autoimmune disease had been abused at some point in their lives. It was recommended that doctors begin asking patients with autoimmune disease about their histories of possible abuse.

I believe women are starting to REALLY understand this and that's why more and more women have opted out.
Out of marriage.
Out of of children.
Out of long term heterosexual relationships.
Out of being overly involved and expectant in things they really don't enjoy or need to do.
Out of continuing to be silent or quiet because it is literally ruining our lives and killing us.

The body remembers...I had a horrific childhood, was thrown into the street at 15, where it was better in some ways, worse in others. I'm in my 60s and deal with complex ptsd, complex trauma, and fibromyalgia. I feel pain every day. Some days are worse than others. Sending love to all those who are survivors. 🌹

What also needs to be discussed is that when women do feel something is wrong physically and go to the doctor for help, we are less likely to be believed that our symptoms are real. I know so many women living in pain every day. Some know why, but it took them years to be diagnosed and for others like myself, we are still waiting on an explanation outside of "Oh you're just anxious. Try to be less stressed and you'll feel better". Clearly not only is that not working, this video asserts that the stress we deal with is, in fact, causing us to develop more physical issues in life.

I'm a woman and I've always felt responsible for everyone else's happiness and wellbeing. Apart from my own.

All of my girlfriends who had extreme stresses in their teens and adolescent years, especially with fathers and mothers and siblings who put extreme stress on themselves without having anyone in their corner when they needed support...all of them developed autoimmune diseases in their early 20s. Multiple autoimmune diseases. So have I, since childhood.

So much respect for this man! As a woman, if you point out these aspects, all you get is hate ( from men and some women), called femi nazi or whatnot, best case scenario some men would admit some of it, but avoid the topic. It takes a real man to acknowledge this without feeling attacked

As a woman I was raised to be the peace in my home, both for hubby and children. However, when there's no outlet for Mom to release all of that energy it gets trapped in the body causing dis-ease. If this becomes a repeated issue then chronic illness like inflammation, autoimmune conditions, and chronic pain occurs. I am healing myself from this. When issues in the spiritual (emotional and mental) side isn't addressed, it will show up in the physical side. Take care of yourself, Mom, because you can't help anyone when you neglect yourself 💜

I’m working on my stress now at 26. My sister, father, and mother all died of cancer before I reached 25. Seriously diving into my emotional and mental healing because I want a life fulfilling and blessed life.

My sister has MS and I have autoimmune thyroid disease. We grew up in a toxic household with a narcissistic mother and I always used to wonder how come my sister and I ended up with autoimmune diseases. Makes sense.

It's super stressful to tell people No and then deal with their reactions and have to find ways to cope with those emptions from others. That's why women suck it up and go along to get along. It's not about us not being able to modulate our emotions well. We're fabulous well-trained at that. The issue is men's, and some women's, lack of ability to modulate like decent human beings and being able to handle rejection without getting violent or aggressive, or even depressed about it.

This makes so much sense...I grew up with a verbally abusive father who crippled my mom and I with fear with his daily rage. I developed an automimmune disease at the age at 16. Highschool was stressful, but when I came home I did not have a safe space to retreat to. My heart breaks for the younger me who felt trapped in that household--too scared to runaway, but too scared to speak out against my rageful father.

My POV: take anger as a (rush) signal for yourself that in that situation you need to connect to your own power. When you connect to yourself and your power you can act consciously. Anger has done its job, it disappears and does not hurt you or others in your action.

It's not just stress, it's abuse and violence, it's complex post traumatic stress because of the huge amount of violence we receive throughout all of our lives. This is the result of living in a sick patriarchal societies
