What is an idea critical distance for a small room(12'x10'x8')? the calculators said mine was 1.28 feet. Would love if anyone could help me understand this a bit more. The wiki was pretty worthless for my situation.

Wouldn't the features of the speakers affect "critical distance"? For example Omni directional, open baffle (electrostatic falls here too), horns, etc. if you have an Omni (like an MBL) put in "Sacred Grounds" for example would you have better soundstage vs. a horn? What effect would that be on the sound you hear at the listening position?

But what do we do with this information? I'm guessing that the longer the "critical distance" is, the better? Is there a critical distance number that requires room treatment and one that does not?

Really good information on your videos. Could you consider elaborating on the musical aspect of room acoustics (first, third, fifth harmonics also discussed by Rupert Neve). Thanks a lot!
