Who needs this kind of visa. I am happy to live in Bali on tourist visa, and happy to fly around Asia every 2 months on my visa run, and exploring more o Asia😉

That’s crazy! This will cause a lot of havoc with the current retirees living in Bali. Not a lot of elderly will have 2 billion IDR on hand. There might a lot of illegal elderly living in Bali after this, or a lot of them moving to another Asian county on the mainland.

Just to clarify...

Is it 2 billion in funds and the purchase of a "luxury" property? If you're required to "purchase" a property then you've lost me wanting to retire in Bali / Indonesia as it's just not worth the risk especially with Government policy flip flopping on a whim.

Lots of other options in other countries should anyone be looking to retire OS.

Who can afford, or feel comfortable putting $200, 000 Australian dollars in an Indonesian bank and not touch it? This seems like a horrible idea for retirees.😢

By the way, the money you have to put on a Indonesian owned Bank, you won’t be allowed to touch, it has to stay on your account, so the Indonesian government can rip you off anytime they like.
Good luck with that and good luck to all the old age pensionaris who don’t have money enough.

Even if I had the funds, I won´t risk this financial outlay into Indonesian owned bank for this long period.
Retirees need to have easy access to funds, considering their health and medical status.

For people who have either a super fund that they draw down on monthly or a pension or combination of both, income is more than enough to live on. I'm not sure that people will be banging down the doors for this new retirement visa. I'm a while off from retirement yet, but had considered Bali, maybe not now.

I’m gutted! We were going to move here to retire next year! Now this makes it impossible! What on earth are they thinking? I’m angry and really upset. I have been planning this for over 20 years and poof - gone.

Definitely would not retire in Bali - even though the funds required would be no problem I would not be comfortable deposting this amount of money into an Indonesian bank account and not being able to touch it - I would rather do 3 monthly stints and not limit myself to just one country - so many other south east Asian countries to explore

It seems to take away the rights of foreigners living in Indonesia, rather than give rights to them. Indeed, it makes their stay even less secure, based on the assumption that they have second homes left in foreign countries. What I don't get is how foreigners can show proof of ownership of property when they aren't allowed to own land?
I guess it doesn't affect me as I am on a married KITAP, but as ever worrying.

So everyone with a retirement visa has to change to 10years?
And what happens after 10years?
Does that mean the retirement visa is no more? ☹

But for foreigners, you still can’t buy the property in Bali right?

just wondering if people holiding this new visa will be taxed on their overseas investments

I genuinely feel sorry for people who have already invested money for long leaseholds etc for 20-25 years on their current retirement visa. Suddenly $130k is expected to be paid for a 5-10 year visa.

11:53 im not surprised their new Visa is going to negatively affect people who are already invested in the country. Malaysia recently did the same thing with MM2H, they relaunched it and the updated requirements are going to negatively affect people who already had the 10 year MM2H Visa.

These kind of flip flops are just bad for investor confidence.

hmm very interesting, I am doing the Malaysia 2nd home now. But Bali sounds interesting . According to what you guys stated yes I can for show the amount of money. What I worry about is the current retired folks who have been in Bali and need to reapply all over again. Doesn't seem fair to them. All the SEA countries are now doing this, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, etc.

Am I able to apply for a second home Visa if I meet all the requirements and show an annual lease for a villa?
