The craziest thing in the video is that 2009 was 15 years ago

This shuffle was one of the first to sell with apples headphones that had inline button controls with the mic. You were meant to control the music that way.

I worked at a retail electronics store when I was younger. These iPod shuffles sold like hotcakes for years.

Honestly the iPod shuffle was amazing. I miss those days of Apple sometimes. Life was so easy back then compared to nowadays.

I love watching kids that were barely born or not at the time review these types of products. Cracks me up every time :)

We were really poor and had a family sponsor us for Christmas one year and I got a winter coat, boots, pants, and this iPod shuffle in blue. That thing was with me for YEARS! Great memories.

I LOVED mine. You controlled it with the headphones. It really encouraged making playlists and organizing your music library. FANTASTIC for the gym. If it fell it wouldn't fall off the jack and to the ground, and no harm if it did. Could be clipped anywhere no pocket needed. I was devastated when the battery failed as they no longer made them. Fantastic little device.

So as someone in their mid-thirties who owned a couple of those, it's because you made a playlist on your iTunes on your computer and you made it in order in which you would like it to play and then one side of the switch plays it in that order the other side of the switch shuffles it
Also, this was during a time where you wanted everything to be small. Cell phones were getting tiny and media players were getting tiny. We wanted to move away from the big walkmans and brick phones we've been carrying around for 20 years

I guess the more you know

I loved my iPod shuffle! It was the perfect size for exercising, battery lasted long, and it held a decent amount of songs. I would totally use it again!

This is an IPod nano and the first Apple product I owned (and still have… for the memories). You controlled the volume, play/pause, and skip/replay with the buttons on your wired earbuds. You downloaded music from a computer via the charging/headphone port too. The worst part of this thing was mastering the rapid triple-click to replay a song… while exercising. The best part was when my classmates tried to pull my headphones out of the jack to ‘expose’ what song I was listening to, nothing happened.

You forgot the most interesting part! It had an auditory UI with navigation controlled by buttons on the Apple headphones. This was pre-siri.

I remember thinking my iPod Nano 6 was the most futuristic device ever, half that size with the clip and a full touchscreen. Thing was amazing.

iPod shuffle’s were the best. All it does is play music. Beautiful.

I loved this shuffle! I had swimming goggles that I could put this in so I could listen to music and swim laps. It held hours and hours of music and charge.

I used to have one. Great little thing. Was all controlled via the earbuds, and had voice announcements.

It should be noted these where released along with the first apple earphones with the mic/remote which where intended to work as the controls. They all came with the headphones but it essentially locking you into that one pair of headphones since mics/remotes on headphones only really became a common thing because of the apple ones.
Worked out more for the head phones since they where a huge success where as the 3rd gen shuffle failed and in less then a year they went with a design based of the 2nd gen which lasted for more the half a decade.
Still wouldn't really call it strange, unless you already considered the entire shuffle line strange, but it was definitely a product killed by a dumb attempt at synergy.

The Shuffle and the Nano need to come back 😂

My 60 year old coworker pulled one of these out the other week! She doesn't have a phone, doesn't use the internet, won't even sign on using the work iPad like the rest of us at work. Couldn't believe how small it is! And the fact she hasn't lost it, seeing as though I've lost every left earbud of ever damn set of headphones I've ever owned within a week of buying them! Decent effort in this day and age.

Wow I’m surprised I don’t remember this one. I only remember the square shuffle with the circle dial. But I was rocking an off-brand MP3 player lol
