A year and a half later and your video is a life saver. I had got OpenOffice installed by accident and then had to wipe the drive and reinstall the OS. I had that issue of the Libre interference but this time I learned how to eliminate Libre BEFORE doing almost anything else. Thank you.

Thanks, worked perfectly. Removed LibreOffice first in terminal (Kubuntu LTS):

sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice*
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoremove
reboot

Then followed this videos' instructions verbatim.

Thank you! This tutorial helped a bunch, and I was able to successfully install OpenOffice! The instruction manual was very confusing 😳.

At one point, you said, "tar x v f" and the screen was not clear enough to see. How do you write that?

Great video and very helpful, but it would have saved me time had you mentioned you need to remove Libre Office first.

This is the main reason that nobody install OpenOffice or prefer a more friendly OS to install and run Apps. I'm sure that some where in time, Apache OpenOffice will be available in snap, repository or in any Open AppStore that just few clicks and solve the problem.
