NEVER believe ANY phone calls associated to ANYTHING let alone your money, !!

Yes, a Fraud department can call you, however, if they say move your money anywhere, and don't come to the bank...It's a scam.

How many times do they have to tell people not to share information on the phone though??? How many times?

So sorry for this young couple. It's her hard-earned money & may she be able to recover it from the scammers.

What bank is gone tell you to move or withdraw your funds due to them investigating a fraud charge. If the funds are there and you can see the funds are there then immediately go to your local branch and ask lots of questions.

Never continue talking to anyone who calls you supposedly from bank. Hang up call your bank directly. Period.

And this is why I encourage everyone I know to watch the news. You don’t have to watch it 24/7 but just 30 minutes of local news 2-3 days a week will keep you informed.

Stories like theirs have been featured on the news for at least a decade. I stopped answering my phone 5 years ago. I let all calls that aren’t family/friends go to voicemail . I call everyone back using the contact numbers on their official website (including my medical providers).

I’m sorry this happened to them but I hope their story will serve as a warning for others.

EDIT: There’s an old scam making a comeback folks. It’s the Dropped Wallet scam, where one person asks if you dropped your wallet or something else that appears to be valuable, then a 2nd person comes along but they’re both in on it. Please warn any Seniors in your life because they’re the main target. Be safe everyone!

This is probably one of the silliest things I heard this month regarding scams. Who empties their account to protect their money. Man, this pushes me to try to educate people.

You always call your bank directly if you get a text message from a bank!
