1933 French Hand Cranked Grinder - Restoration

Restoring an old french hand cranked grinder from Val D'or , very possibly dating from 1933.
As the title suggests, I restored this wonderful and complex tool. My dear friend from OTND Restoration channel sent me.
I started the restoration, by disassembly, as usual. As I have seen in other restorations of the same tool, I expected the sprockets to be simple, attached only to the holes in the gearbox. I was very surprised when I opened the gearbox and saw that it also had ball bearings. That was the moment when I realized that this restoration is a bit more complex, but at the same time even more satisfying. This restoration video is a little longer than I usually do, but I did it to make the work satisfying for you. Apart from asmr restoration, you will see many things restored using hands, others being restored with the help of the lathe. You will also see sandblasting, powder coating, making new parts on the lathe machine , diamond dressing grinding wheel , making new parts on the milling machine and etching brass for making a new name plate for this beautiful tool.
I worked with pleasure as I do every time, and this will be seen in the video. I hope you enjoy both , video editing and restoration.
I also want to thank you for your patience in waiting for my videos and thank you for giving me love in your comments. Cheers , David !

To think that it is still functional even before being restored. This is what I call quality. Quality products last a lifetime.

I just wanted to stay thank you for your videos. I have anxiety that gets worst before falling asleep or even, like now, middle of the night, I wake up, my brain goes haywire, and I found that watching your videos calms me down. I don't worry, I don't stress as much. I just enjoy the process. So thank you

My dad had a rusty grinder almost like this. Would send hours as a kid in his workshop sharpening anything I could get my hands on. Really brings back memories. Now it lies hidden away in a cupboard... Would love to restore it one day and display it with pride in my workshop. Thank you for the video! Your work is amazing.

This is more than just a restoration, this is turning an everyday object into a piece of art.

This is the best Restoration Channel on YouTube. Thank you for your videos.
Thanks for not showing us your pets, not doing "magic tricks", not taking a break to drink something, actually restoring the object, and more.
Your channel should be called Better Than New Restoration, because that's what you really do. I cannot praise your work enough. Please do not change.

This is fantastic, also I really appreciated the editing that went into this where you reassembled the mechanism and housing before going back to the wheel, absolutely brilliant as always!

Wow, now this is a work of art. I have such a soft spot for analog tools, and to have this in my workshop would be a dream. Masterfully done!

Dang. And here I was feeling proud of myself replacing the spray thing in my sink. Now I just feel outdone.

In all seriousness, this looks gorgeous! Wonderful job as always.

Without a doubt a concourse restoration. That grinder was never that beautiful looking when it was fresh from the manufacturer. Great job!
