Games and PDEs - Prof Sylvia Serfaty - The Archimedeans

Prof. Sylvia Serfaty is a mathematician working in analysis, mathematical physics and PDEs. For her work on the Ginzburg-Landau model of supeconductivity she has received multiple awards, including the European Maths Society prize and the Henri Poincaré Prize. She was a plenary speaker at the 2018 ICM in Rio.

In this talk, we will present the connection between some very simple games and solutions to Partial Differential Equations, following optimal control theory. This will include some classical cases and more recent examples.

Knowledge of elementary analysis and multivariable calculus is preferable.
