NWR Tales S3 Ep.8 - Annie & Clarabel

I noticed that I've said a couple of months later in the video and I've left the dialogue, as it was originally written, with a couple of years instead.

The story is set during 'Troublesome Engines' where it's presumed to be set around possibly 1925 - 1935, according to Gavin Rose's database.

Before coming Thomas' permanent coaches, Annie and Clarabel were ordinary coaches on local trains along the mainline. But they weren't as wise or faithful as they are now. They were highly strung, stubborn and rude.

One question: If Thomas didn't know about Annie and Clarabel's past lives before they were given to him, then how come in the flashback he mentions that he knows about their tricks?
