I actually like how the open world is not overpopulated with monsters. If you constantly had to dig through monsters everywhere it would take away from the feeling of travel, adventure and exploration. I think they kinda nailed it in this regard.

Id love to see more tiny villages and stuff scattered in the world. Like some ruins with buildings you can go into with enemies just to spice things up so you’re not just running around in the open constantly.

Playing solo in veteran is amazing. It could be a little bit more difficult, but it was fine.
In d2 and d3, I felt that combat was like cleaning the map from the trash.
In d4, there are fewer monsters, but they actually feel like encounters you must face with strategy and tempo, not just ants you have to stamp on.
I LOVE that. For me, this is a true bull's eye.

I played the closed beta and now this one. I played both on Veteran mode. The closed beta was focused on post-campaign features while this one focuses on the early campaign. I didn't perceive a significant difference in the two betas relative to difficulty. However, I found this one was a bit easier because I already understood most of the features and protocols this time around.

This is why I watch rhykker, it's detailed information based on experiences and being neutral, talking about the positives and negatives with base and history, thank you for not being a click bait and sensationalist content creator, mad respect

For myself, I wish I could do the campaign completely offline. The storyline, as far as I could see, was quite interesting and the opening segment was really dark, but seeing all the other players around you as you walk through the storyline kinda breaks the immersion for me. I know it's part of the open world design, but at least for the campaign, I would appreciate it.
On a different note, I did get the butcher, but no idea how, and playing on veteran I died to it instantly and then it wasn't there 😅

Some of the boss fights, especially the main story bosses, on barb were very hard on WT2. Lots of time spent evading and not enough window to fight. Made the fights very long.

Keep in mind that it's highly likely that drop rates of legendaries were super high on the beta so that people could test them

You can gamble in the Yelesna. Way closer to TP. Also blacksmith and armor vendor is next to your portal so this is fastest hub to empty your bags.

What Ragnarok Online did really well IMO was that the drops from low level areas were really good as requirements for some equipment (for forging or buffing), skills for some builds, or there were simply really strong bosses in those areas, called MVP, with great drops. The low level players would run from the MVPs and the high levels would chase. In this way, during the endgame you would still visit pretty much every area. There were also high level accessible dungeons in low level areas. So everybody would constantly see other players in different levels. When I transitioned from Ragnarok to WoW, that was one of my main complaints, the past map areas just felt abandoned and useless.

Regarding the backtracking in dungeon design. I liked how some areas like Kor Dragan, used the different levels of terrain you could slide down, climb across, ladder up all over that map. It felt good. You went up and did a thing, then slid down where you needed to go back to. If they implemented these vertical tools in dungeons it would eliminate all those issues and keep up with the pacing

Got to 21 and only played the Barbarian. Had a blast and really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the full release

It will be interesting to see their end game deep dive after the beta. Also traveling the world with a mount instead will change things up quite a bit. Cant wait to play the full game!

As always Rhykker you've got one of the best voices in the Diablo-verse, appreciate the in-depth review!

This is the best I have felt about a game in a long time. The beta felt like the old demo discs you got back in the 90s in PC Gamer and similar magazines. A taste to get you hooked.

The world bosses need to be heavily tuned and adjusted, but that's a new feature and to be expected. The core mechanics are deep, complex, and very fun to play.

This is exactly what I wanted from Diablo 4. Not a Diablo 2 remake, not a Diablo 3 remake, something new that recaptures the essence of the game - bashing monsters in endless dungeons.

I really enjoyed the beta weekend. Game felt responsive and combat was great. The environments looked very good and the story was cool as well. I also enjoyed seeing other players in town and while running from quest to quest or seeing people join in while doing a random event. It really made the world feel more alive. There are things I would like to see improved but there is a lot more game to see and enjoy than what was available this past weekend. Overall it was a blast and I can’t wait to play some more
