Two masters of their instrument: Marko Melkon Alemsherian singing and playing oud, and Harilaos Piperakis with restrained accompaniment on Cretan lyre. This recording on Balkan 822 dates from the mid 1940s.
They speak of the experience of Greek immigrants in Sacramento, CA; Lodi, CA (where Creedence Clearwater Revival was 'stuck'); San Francisco, CA; Boston, MA; and New York, NY. Piperakis eventually lived in Fairfield, CA, not far from Sacramento and Lodi, and is buried just south of San Francisco.
